How to enable 2FA for your X (Twitter) account

A step-by-step guide on how to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) for your X (Twitter) account using Authenticator App. With 2FA enabled, signing in requires both your password and a temporary verification code — keeping your account safe even if your password is stolen.

1

Download Authenticator App

First, download the Authenticator ℠ App on your Apple device. Click the button below or scan the QR code with your iPhone camera.

8

Save your X backup code

After setup, tap Get Backup Code, then save it (for example with Save Screenshot). Store this single code somewhere safe so you can sign in if you ever lose access to your Authenticator App; you can also view it later under Backup Codes in your X settings.

Backup & recovery

When you turn on two-factor authentication, X automatically generates a single backup code (you can also generate one anytime on x.com under the two-factor authentication settings). Save it by writing it down, printing it, or taking a screenshot. If you lose your mobile device or change your phone number, you can use this backup code to log in to your account.

That's it — your X (Twitter) account is now protected with two-factor authentication. If you have any issues during setup, visit the official X (Twitter) help page. Stay safe!
