How to enable 2FA for your Zoom account

Updated June 5, 2026

A step-by-step guide on how to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Zoom account using Authenticator App. With 2FA enabled, signing in requires both your password and a temporary verification code — keeping your account safe even if your password is stolen.

1

Download Authenticator App

First, download the Authenticator ℠ App on your Apple device. Click the button below or scan the QR code with your iPhone camera.

2

Sign in and open your Profile

Sign in to the Zoom web portal in your browser. In the navigation menu, click Profile, then scroll to the Sign In section and find Two-Step Verification.

3

Start setup for the Authentication App

Next to Authentication App, click Set Up. When prompted, enter your account password to enable two-step verification, then click Next.

4

Scan the QR code with your Authenticator App

Zoom displays a QR code. Open the Authenticator App on your iPhone, tap the + button, and scan the QR code shown by Zoom. If you cannot scan it, choose the manual option and enter the secret key shown by Zoom instead.

5

Enter the 6-digit code and verify

Click Next on Zoom. Then enter the 6-digit, one-time code generated by your authenticator app and click Verify.

6

Save your recovery codes and finish

After verification, Zoom shows your recovery codes. Click Download or Print to save them somewhere safe, then click Done to complete setup.

Backup & recovery

After you verify, Zoom displays a set of recovery codes. Click Download or Print to save them. If you lose your mobile device, you can use a recovery code instead of a generated 6-digit code to sign in. Each recovery code can only be used once.

That's it — your Zoom account is now protected with two-factor authentication. If you have any issues during setup, visit the official Zoom help page. Stay safe!
